Academic background:

Northwestern University (BA)

IESE Business School (MBA)

The Hertie School (PhD)

During PhD: Visiting researcher at the Copenhagen Business School and

Stanford University.

Prior to my academic career, I worked in an innovation team at Nokia in the location division (now, HERE) on new product innovation and later product marketing. Earlier, our team co-founded a geography- and technology- education nonprofit in Chicago that later became part of Reach the World.

For fun, I run, hike, cycle and ski. Back in the day, I collaborated on conceptual art projects and once gave a talk satirizing startup culture during the few months I worked for a data aggregator startup.

If you're wondering why there's nothing on this website about building a calibrated tensiometer, you must be looking for a different Metz.

Contact me to discuss joint research, PhD opportunities, consulting, guest teaching or anything else I can potentially help with!

Students or fellow researchers struggling with narcolepsy are especially welcome to connect for tips, tricks and supportive high-fives. Various studies suggest there's some lemonade we can extract from this little lemon pile. I'm cheering for you.
