Prior to my academic career, I worked in an innovation team at Nokia in the location division (now, HERE) on new product innovation and later product marketing. Earlier, our team co-founded a geography- and technology- education nonprofit in Chicago that later became part of Reach the World.

For fun, I occasionally use alternative media to think about institutional change. I collaborated on conceptual art projects and once gave a talk satirizing startup culture during the few months I worked for a data aggregator startup.
